Four Pillars (BaZi) Chart

Enter a Gregorian birth date to get the four pillars, Ten Gods, hidden stems, Na Yin, luck cycles and annual pillars, plus five-element strength and your favourable elements.

How to read the four pillars

The year pillar covers ancestry and childhood (roughly 1–16), the month pillar parents and youth (17–32), the day pillar yourself and your spouse (33–48), and the hour pillar children and later life (after 49). The day stem — the Day Master — is you; the other seven characters are read as relationships to it.

The Ten Gods

Characters of the same element as the Day Master are Friend and Rob Wealth; what the Day Master produces is Eating God and Hurting Officer; what it controls is Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth; what controls it is Direct Officer and Seven Killings; what produces it is Direct Resource and Indirect Resource. These are names for relations, not verdicts.

Strong or weak

Turn the five elements into proportions, then compare what supports the Day Master (peers plus resource) against what drains it (output, wealth, officer). A weak chart wants support; a strong one wants an outlet. That is exactly where favourable elements come from.

Luck cycles

Luck pillars turn every ten years and are derived from the month pillar: forward for a yang-year man or a yin-year woman, backward otherwise. The starting age is converted from the days between birth and the nearest solar term — three days to a year.
